The project developed a flaw detection and profiling algorithms before the development of prognostics algorithms. It used the historical database of degradation vis-à-vis NDT data. The prognostics software predicted the remaining useful life of structure/component that were examined. It also facilitated the aircraft maintenance managers to plan repair/replacement action well in time i.e. supply chain integration which ensured safety of aircraft and make aircraft operation commercially viable by reducing down-time.
