The project developed a widely accessible system through which users can request for and retrieve information orally using local language. Through this system, a user was able to use a mobile phone to request for information verbally. The information was retrieved and then sent to the user in the form of speech. In addition, an Urdu screen reader overcomed the additional barrier for the visually impaired community. This technology addressed all three barriers of literacy, language and connectivity, and therefore served as a simple and efficient information access interface for Pakistani citizens and for the visually impaired community of Pakistan.
